What's in my Travel Bag?

I spent this past week on the gorgeous beaches of the Dominican Republic. The trip was super fun, but the travel...not so fun. Traveling can be tiring, uncomfortable, stressful, and usually it is boring. However, packing the perfect bag for the plane or car can help alleviate some of these discomforts. After reading through other blogger's "what's in my bag" posts and traveling a lot, I have this down to a science. Here's what I bring:
1. The perfect bag. This bag is from Lazy Daisy Monogram Shop. I like it just as well as a Longchamp, and I asked Addison, the owner, (who is very helpful and responsive) to make an option for a smaller monogram. I love the way it turned out. It is just the right size and is durable. It comes in many colors, get yours here!
2. iPad, Sleeve, Earbuds. Watching movies is probably the most entertaining on a flight. And having a sleeve to protect your device is necessary when your bags get thrown around.
3. A good read, I brought Paper Towns.
4. Candy! My all-time favorite is Swedish Fish.
5. A hat. My pick is a Vineyard Vines whale hat. This is for covering up your messy hair after a nap.
6. A water bottle, this one is my favorite from Teal and Dooley on Etsy. It is adorable, and is totally leak proof. I love this shop! Hydration is SO important, and this holds a lot of water to quench your thirst. You need water to keep your skin soft and bright on vacation and fend off headaches. Get your glam bottle here.
7. Sunglasses
8. A little pouch containing hand sanitizer, lip scrub and lip balm. Planes can be germy, so hand sanitizer is a must. Lip scrub is good to have on vacation for your dry skin, and lip balm for the same reason. I recommed a lip balm with built in sunscreen. My current favorite is Bubblegum from The Frosting Company, which will launch on their site soon!
9. A journal for remembering what you did on the trip! (And don't forget a pen or pencil)
10. A camera, obviously, for documenting all parts of your vacation.
11. A soft, yet light, scarf. You can wear it in the airport then let it double as a mini blanket or pillow on the plane! The one pictured from Lilly Pulitzer is no longer available, but you can click through the widget below (on the arrows) to explore some of my current favorites (and some are on sale!)

The List Part Two: Spring Break Edition

A few weeks ago I released templates for a to-do list and organization method called The List. I got a couple of requests to make one in the Lilly Pulitzer print Jellies Be Jammin', and I thought that would be so cute and fun for spring break! Not only did I create a to-do list template for you to print and download, but a packing list as well.
Spring break packing can be hectic, so I organized this so that you can compare your activities and time frame to what you pack. This way, you will have the right outfits for the things you do. Also, getting in the car or on the plane for a long ride and realizing you put something in the wrong bag or forgot it is the absolute worst. So, be sure to fill out the "travel bag" section on the packing list.
The to-do list is great to make sure you do everything you need to do before you leave home, so I suggest you print them out as a matching set!

This week I had the amazing opportunity to interview one of my idols, Carly from The College Prepster. Not only is her Instagram feed my hopes and dreams, but her blog is to die for. I'm not even kidding you when I say this interview has been like getting advice from the coolest older sister ever. So, without further adieu, here is Chit-Chat with Carly.
M- It seems like you always get to do really cool things- from having your own prints at Evelyn Henson to going behind the scenes at Kate Spade. What's the neatest thing you've ever gotten to do?
C- I love all the opportunities that come my way! It never gets old and I always get just as excited when a new opportunity comes up. Working with Teen Vogue has definitely been way up there in terms of "pinch me" moments.
M- Your blog is to die for. Seriously, it's my goal. If there's one piece of advice you could give blogger girls everywhere, what would it be?
C- Just go for it! Be unique in your voice and what you post!
M- Living in New York, you must see a ton of inspiration for blogging and style every day. Where do you go to feel inspired/what gives you inspiration?
C- I get most of my inspiration from just my everyday experiences. A bad day can inspire a post or an interesting outfit pairing I stumbled upon.
M- From writing daily blog posts to walking your precious pup to attending the chicest events...how do you get it all done?
C- I set priorities and figure out what times of the day works best for me. I tend to work for a handful of hours in the morning, take the afternoon off, and then pick back up around 6pm until midnight!
